Amjad Nazeer and Asad Khan
“Education Concerns (SNC to NCP)” written by Amjad Nazeer and Asad Khan examines the serious pedagogical issues in the current curriculum and officially published textbooks. It includes opinions from commentators as well as responses from government officials. A key focus is the new education scheme, which claims to apply uniformly across public schools, elite private institutions, and Islamic seminaries (madrassas). The book carefully assesses this aspect through surveys of schools, teachers, and parents, presenting an unbiased analysis. Where necessary, it also provides historical context, including a chapter on the overall state of education in the country.
Amjad Nazeer, a renowned social science researcher and policy analyst, leads the Institute of Development Research and Corresponding Capabilities (IDRAC). With an impressive background as a human rights activist, Nazeer has made significant contributions to his field. His recent collaboration with Asad Khan bridges a notable gap in the analysis of the Single National Curriculum (SNC). The study, which explores the evolution of Pakistan’s school curriculum from SNC to the National Curriculum of Pakistan (NCP), was made possible through funding from the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy.
